I am a population ecologist with broad interests in how we monitor and manage wildlife populations, and with a fascination in the role of species interactions in structuring natural systems in an ever-changing world. The research conducted in the Twining Applied Quantitative Ecology Lab is diverse, ranging from examining the drivers of mammal and bird distributions and populations dynamics, through to supporting and informing on-going carnivore conservation and management. Nonetheless, all of our work shares a common theme: the application of quantitative methods guided by close collaborations with stakeholders, including state and federal agencies, agricultural industries, non-governmental organizations, and local communities to address real-world management and conservation challenges. We work across a variety of systems, taxa, and scales, using a combination of empirical and theoretical methods to advance our understanding of ecological systems and achieve outcomes that work for both people and wildlife.
