I am a conservation social scientist focused on natural resource communication science. I study how outreach interventions and engagement efforts can affect people’s behavior and beliefs related to conservation topics. One stream of my research focuses on relational organizing campaigns - how people can be support to encourage others in their social networks to adopt new behaviors, like more sustainable diets, gardening for wildlife, or reducing attractants for bears. I also work with natural resource organizations to study interventions that are intended to make conservation more participatory and effective, including impact evaluation, strategic planning, and facilitation of collaborative groups and conflictual processes.
