I am a conservation social scientist focused on natural resource communication science. I study how outreach interventions and inclusion efforts can affect people’s behavior and beliefs related to conservation topics. One stream of my research focuses on relational organizing campaigns - how people can be support to encourage others in their social networks to adopt new behaviors, like more climate-friendly diets, gardening for wildlife, or reducing attractants for bears. I also work with natural resource organizations to study interventions that are intended to make the conservation culture more inclusive and effective, including facilitation of participatory processes, conflict management, and DEIJ initiatives.
