Confluence Symposium

2025 Confluence Symposium

SAVE THE DATE: 2025 Confluence Symposium will be Friday, April 11th.

As usual, we will be cohosting our symposium with College of Forestry's Western Forestry Graduate Research Symposium (WFGRS)!

Register to attend the 2025 Confluence Symposium here!

What is the Confluence Symposium?

Formerly called the Research Advances in Fisheries Wildlife and Ecology Symposium (RAFWE, or RAFWE-WFGRS), the Confluence Symposium showcases research, extension, and outreach activities conducted by students who conduct research in the fields of fisheries and wildlife, forestry, and ecology here or from other universities, and is hosted by the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences and the College of Forestry at Oregon State University.

Interested in presenting?

Are you an undergraduate or graduate student doing research related to fisheries, wildlife, or ecology? Then you should present your work at the Research Advances in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Ecology (RAFWE) Symposium at Oregon State University (OSU)! Both graduate and undergraduate students from any department are encouraged to present their research at any stage of development: proposal, data collection, preliminary results, published in Science, or research-adjacent talks about outreach, art, or other topics.

The 2025 Call for Posters and Presentations is now closed. Stay tuned for the 2025 Schedule!

Guidelines for Presenting:

Students can give a 15-minute oral presentation (12 minute presentation with 3 minutes for Q&A) or present a poster during the hour-long lunch.

**Note to poster presenters

Posters can be any reasonable size, but we recommend a size of 36" x 44". Be sure to check with the printing service you use for exact specifications; for example, ROOTS plotter dimensions are 36" x 42", so one dimension of your poster should be one of those two sizes.  If you ARE FWCS students, you can print a free poster through ROOTS.

If you are NOT FWCS students, you can request a print here for free per term at the Media Services in the Valley Library, OSU.

Interesting in attending?

Registration is free, and open to all, but presentations will only be given by students (undergraduate or graduate) conducting research in the fields of fisheries, wildlife, or ecology. Included with registration is a free breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as coffee and snacks throughout the day. Please indicate on the registration form which meals you would like, so we can get an accurate head count! Faculty, graduate students, and postdocs are encouraged to sign up to judge the oral and poster presentations. The sign up will be included on the registration form.
