Cloud Storage at OSU

Oregon State University offers many different cloud storage locations: Microsoft One Drive, Google Drive, and Box.

Box

http://box.oregonstate.edu/

  • Box offers Unlimited storage space.
  • Files and folders can be uploaded to Box. From there they can be shared with collaborators.
  • Using Box integration with Microsoft Office and Google Web Apps, files can be created and edited within the Box browser.
  • After you leave the university, files can be transferred to a personal account or your OSU Box account can be changed to a free account.
    • If you are over the storage limit (5GB for a free account) when changing to a free account, Box allows you to keep all your files but you cannot edit or add more files till you are lower than the limit.

Microsoft One Drive

  • One Drive only offers 1TB of cloud storage space.
  • Through One Drive, you can either create or upload files. From there, they can be shared with collaborators.
  • When you leave the university files need to be transferred to a personal account or to another OSU student or they will be lost.

Google Drive

  • Google Drive offers Unlimited cloud storage space.
  • Through the various Google Drive Apps, you can either create or upload files. From there, they can be shared with collaborators.
  • Not only can files be shared but folders can be also - giving collaborators of a folder access to all files in the folder without sharing each individual file.
  • When you leave the university files need to be transferred to a personal account or to another OSU student or they will be lost.

Multiple Cloud Storage Solutions

All of your different storage locations can be managed by Kumo (OSU lab computers and desktops only). Instructions for setting up Kumo are available at http://it.engineering.oregonstate.edu/kumo.
