OREGON SLENDER SALAMANDER
Tiffany Garcia
Latin name:Â Batrachoseps wrighti
Oregon Slender Salamanders are endemic to Oregon and are currently proposed for listing under the Endangered Species Act. Due to their small home ranges and reliance on downed wood, they are vulnerable to timber harvest practices. Dr. Tiffany Garcia is working with private timber companies, the Bureau of Land Management, and Oregon Department of Forestry to develop assessment plans and provide valuable information to the US Fisheries and Wildlife Service regarding conservation of this species.Â
Did you know? This terrestrial salamander has no aquatic life history phase and has a home range estimated to be less than 1m.
